Finding My Air Witch Vibe: A Very Personal Journey
Please note that posts on this site may contain affiliate links
So I haven’t posted in like… forever. Life gets crazy, ya know? But I’ve been REALLY into exploring my connection with air magic lately and thought I should probably document this journey somewhere. My apartment is currently covered in feathers and incense ash (not an exaggeration) and my roommate is probably questioning her life choices right about now lol.

How I Realized I Was an Air Witch
I always knew I was drawn to something, but couldn’t quite figure out which element spoke to me. Fire seemed too intense, water too emotional (I’m already a Cancer, I don’t need MORE feelings), and earth was nice but didn’t give me that SPARK.
Then last summer I was sitting on my balcony during this crazy windstorm – like seriously the kind where your hair gets all tangled and you can’t even light a candle – and instead of going inside like a normal person, I just sat there feeling… alive? Connected? Something clicked and I was like “oh. OH. I’m an air witch.”
It sounds dramatic but it was one of those moments where everything just makes sense suddenly. All those times I was obsessively collecting feathers as a kid or feeling energized during storms. Duh.
My Current Air Witch Aesthetic
Let me tell you about the ridiculous amount of wind chimes I’ve collected in the past 4 months. My neighbors probably hate me (sorry Ms. Jenkins) but I can’t stop. I found this gorgeous copper one at a little shop downtown – it makes the most beautiful tinkling sound when even the slightest breeze comes through.
I’ve also embraced:
- Blue and white EVERYTHING
- Feathers (ethically sourced, I’m not chasing birds around or anything)
- Incense – so much incense
- Hanging plants that move with air currents
- Transparent curtains that billow dramatically
Oh! I almost forgot to mention my altar setup! It’s pretty simple but I love it. I have this gorgeous piece of driftwood as the centerpiece that I found at the beach last year – it’s all smooth and twisted from years of wind and waves. Around it I’ve arranged some clear quartz points, a couple of owl feathers, and this little silver bell that makes the most delicate sound.

Magical Correspondences That Actually Work For Me
So I’ve been studying traditional air correspondences and honestly some of them work great for me and some just… don’t? And I think that’s totally fine. We’re all on our own paths and what matters is what resonates with YOU.
The correspondences that definately work for me:
- Incense (especially lavender and sage)
- Feathers (I prefer smaller ones from songbirds)
- Wind chimes
- The color light blue
- Bells
- Birds (I have a special connection with crows – they’re so smart!)
But I’ve also added some non-traditional stuff that just feels right:
- Coffee (the aroma, the steam rising – very air energy to me)
- My grandma’s old handkerchiefs (they float and drift beautifully when I use them in spellwork)
- Bubbles! Like, actual soap bubbles. They’re whimsical and temporary and… wait, I forgot where I was going with this.
Anyway, I use these items in my practice and they help me connect with air energy in a way that feels authentic. I’m not saying everyone should use coffee in their air witch practice lol, but don’t be afraid to experiment with things that aren’t in the books!
Practical Air Magic I’ve Been Experimenting With
So I’m still figuring things out – I’m only about 2 years into seriously practicing air magic – but I’ve had some pretty cool successes with:
- Communication spells (air governs communication, and I’ve had good results with helping clear up misunderstandings)
- Clarity rituals when I’m feeling foggy-brained
- Those times when you need change but aren’t sure WHAT kind of change (air is good at stirring things up without dictating exactly what happens)
I tried a banishing spell using air once and… well… let’s just say I should stick to what air is naturally good at. My attempt to “blow away” a toxic friendship actually resulted in me getting a flat tire AND losing my phone on the same day. The universe has a sense of humor I guess??

Finding Witchy Inspiration as an Air Witch
Instagram and Pinterest are both amazing and terrible for this. On one hand, SO MANY beautiful air witch aesthetics to draw from! On the other hand, it’s easy to feel like your practice isn’t “pretty enough” or whatever.
I’ve taken to going outside during windy days and just… paying attention. What does the wind interact with? How does it move things? What sounds does it make? Nature is honestly the best teacher.
Some random places I’ve found inspiration:
- Watching birds at the park near my house
- Cloud patterns (I’m obsessed with cirrus clouds especially)
- The way my plants move when the AC kicks on
- The sound of wind through different types of trees
Speaking of which, there’s this one huge willow tree in the park down the street that I swear has actual magical properties. When the wind blows through it, it makes this sound that’s almost like whispers? I like to sit under it sometimes and just listen. I bring my journal and sometimes get the CRAZIEST ideas out of nowhere.
Final Thoughts (For Now)
I’m still learning and growing in my practice every day. Some days I feel super connected and other days I feel like I know absolutely nothing – which is probably how it’s supposed to be? The element of air is always changing and moving, so it makes sense that working with it would be a constantly evolving practice.
I meant to make this post more organized and helpful, but it kind of wandered all over the place… kinda like air itself I guess? Maybe that’s appropriate.
Anyway, if you’re exploring your connection with air energy too, I’d love to hear about your experiences! Or if you work with a different element but have cool crossover practices, share those too! I’m thinking about exploring some air/water boundary magic next because I live near the ocean and the energy there is just…
Well, that’s a post for another day. Maybe next week? Or next month knowing me lol.
