The winter solstice is a time of returning light, and thus is the perfect time for working with Lucifer as The Lightbringer. As we approach this season, I want to offer some tips for working with him during this time in particular. This isn’t meant to be exhaustive; rather, these are things that have worked well for me over the years—things which may help others as they seek to draw closer to Lucifer through ritual magick.

The winter solstice is a time of rebirth and renewal—a time when the light begins to return after the long darkness of winter. For The Lightbringer, this is a time of great power and significance. By performing rituals and offering devotions to him at this time, we can tap into that power and use it to bring about our own renewal and rebirth.

There are many ways to honor Lucifer during the winter solstice. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Perform rituals and offer devotions to him. This is the best way to tap into his power and receive his blessings.
  • Light candles and incense in his honor.
  • Decorate your home or altar with images of him.
  • Give gifts to those you love in his name.
  • Spend time outdoors in nature, and take time to appreciate the beauty of the winter season.
  • Share your Luciferian beliefs with others, and help them to understand his role in the universe.
  • Most importantly, take this opportunity to reflect on your own relationship with Lucifer, and how you can strengthen your bond with him in the coming year.

Winter Devotions To Lucifer

To honor Lucifer during the winter season, I like to perform devotions to him on each of the 5 days leading up to the solstice. These can be as simple or elaborate as you like. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Day 1

On the first day, light a white candle in his honor and recite the following prayer:

“Lucifer, dawn of the morning star,

I honor you this day.

May your light shine upon me

And guide me through the darkness.

I offer you my devotion,

And pledge my loyalty to you.

And so it is.”

Day 2

On the second day, light a red candle in his honor and recite the following prayer:

“Lucifer, king of the underworld,

I honor you this day.

May your power protect me

And give me strength in times of need.

I offer you my devotion,

And pledge my loyalty to you.

And so it is.”

Day 3

On the third day, light a black candle in his honor and recite the following prayer:

“Lucifer, lord of the shadows,

I honor you this day.

May your darkness envelope me

And keep me safe from evil attention.

I offer you my devotion,

And pledge my loyalty to you.

And so it is.”

Day 4

On the fourth day, light a purple candle in his honor and recite the following prayer:

“Lucifer, master of magic,

I honor you this day.

May your power flow through me

And grant me success in all I do.

I offer you my devotion,

And pledge my loyalty to you.

And so it is.”

Day 5

On the fifth day, light a green candle in his honor and recite the following prayer:

“Lucifer, bringer of knowledge,

I honor you this day.

May your wisdom enlighten me

And lead me to greater understanding.

I offer you my devotion,

And pledge my loyalty to you.

And so it is.”

What Are Lucifer’s Correspondences During The Winter

Winter has many unique tools that other seasons don’t have, like ice and snow. Wintery themed items that Lucifer likes include:

  • Sharp icicles
  • Winter storms
  • Mistletoe
  • The color black
  • Winter animals like wolves and ravens
  • Cold in general
  • Dead plants and leaves

How to use these items to honor Lucifer:

  1. Hang icicles in windows or from doorways to symbolize the sharpness of winter.
  2. Bring a storm inside by suspending snowflakes or white feathers from the ceiling with string.
  3. Decorate with mistletoe and holly for a festive touch, and add berries for color contrast.
  4. Use black candles, fabric, and decorations to create an eerie atmosphere reminiscent of darkness falling at Lucifer’s hour.
  5. Bundle dead flowers, twigs, and leaves in wreathes or other decorative forms to celebrate the death of plant life before new growth begins in spring.
  6. Fill a room with as much cold air as possible before performing rituals or meditations to get closer to the frigid spirit of winter.
  7. Meditate on the animals of winter and the lessons they teach us about adaptability, resourcefulness, and survival.
