Please note that posts on this site may contain affiliate links

Witchcraft on a budget? Yes! You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to learn how to cast spells, do divination, or make potions. All you need are books with simple instructions for creating magical items.

You’ll find all kinds of information here, from basic spell casting to advanced techniques. It’s all written in plain English, so anyone can understand what they’re doing.

The best part is that these books aren’t just for beginners. They also contain lots of tips and tricks for experienced witches as well.

Anyone with a love affair with reading knows that books can get expensive.

Especially if you buy them brand new! But it doesn’t have to be that way.

You can increase your knowledge of the occult without breaking the bank or taking out a loan to afford it all.

I’ve been trying to improve my focus after years of social media addiction, and part of that is forcing myself to read more.

It isn’t always easy to sit for a long time and focus on just one book without checking social media, but I think it’s totally worth the effort.

If you want to improve your focus, too, or just want to get back into your reading habit this summer, this list will help you do so without dipping into your wallet too often.

4 ways to read witchy books on a budget

There are many different ways to read witchy (or other) books on a budget. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to enjoy reading. Here are four suggestions for how you could do this without spending too much.

Use a book subscription service

Online ebook subscription services are awesome.

Ebooks are good for the environment since you don’t have to kill trees to read a ton of books, and it can be so much cheaper for you too!

I use Scribd, which also has audiobooks all for one low fee a month.

You can also use Kindle Unlimited but you’ll find surprisingly few books offered there (probably because publishers don’t want to only be locked in to selling on Amazon) and it doesn’t come with audiobooks in the subscription.

Whichever you choose, you’ll find a lot of new books to read on spells, spirituality, witchcraft, history, and more.

I’ve been listening to Evil Archaeology on Scribd and it is a very dark but enjoyable book on the history of human sacrifice, demons, possession, and more.

Working With Hekate During The Full Moon

During the full moon, we call upon Hekate to assist us in clearing our past, releasing our fears, and opening ourselves to new possibilities. We ask her to help us gain clarity in our lives, to help us transform our inner worlds, and to allow us to move forward with courage and confidence.

It is said that Hekate helps us to overcome obstacles and challenges that stand in our way, and to achieve our goals. In addition to being a benevolent Goddess, she is also a fierce warrior. When we summon her, we invite her to help us take charge of our lives, to lead us into battle, and to fight for justice.

I am an eclectic witch - I've been practicing since 1974. As a student of the occult, working with astrology, tarot cards, runes, and numerology, I found that this was a very comprehensive and well written text on working with Hekate during the full moon. Highly recommended. - Gail Sager

Great read - a must have for anyone interested in working with the Goddess during the full moon! Highly recommended! - Luis Meyer

Visit your library

The best way to learn about witchcraft is to read books on the subject. You can find these at the local library.

You don’t need to spend any money to do this. You’ll find many old favorites at your local library.

And whatever you don’t find, you can probably request from within their network.

Your library may be limited, but if it is in a wider network with other libraries then your choices expand so long as you are willing to wait for a book to come in!

Your library may also offer audio books and ebooks with your membership, so ask about that, too!

The library is a great place to not only find books on astrology, aromatherapy, moon magic, and tarot, but you might also find community events and classes that fit your interests!

Trade in your old books

You can often resell your old books to local book stores or trade them in for store credit, allowing you to expand your horizons at a discount.

You’ll also be supporting a local business and helping other readers to learn more, as well!

Selling those books back to Amazon is a great option, too.

They have a trade in program where you can send in your old books and they will give you a gift card in return.

If you haven’t sworn off of buying from Amazon, this is a great way to get rid of those old books (or text books!) that are collecting dust on your shelves.

Check bargain sites

I used to love looking through half.com, which was an offshoot of eBay for games, books, movies, etc.

They shut it down, but eBay is still an awesome place to find books for a deeply discounted price.

You can also check websites like Book Outlet and Thrift Books! With websites like these, finding new age books at low prices is very easy.
