Why I Love Being A Witch During Christmas: Contrary to popular belief, we witches often love the holidays! The holiday season is full of magic, miracles, and warm family gatherings. But sometimes we feel trapped by the rituals imposed upon us, or simply overwhelmed by all the expectations around us.

Whether you’re struggling through the holidays alone, or you’re celebrating with friends and loved ones, here are five reasons why being a witch during the holidays makes me absolutely love it!

1) The Magic of Holidays

The holidays are filled with magic! From the decorations to the food, everything has its own special meaning and can be infused with witchcraft.

There’s something magical about seeing white lights twinkling through trees covered in snow – especially when that tree was planted by myself years ago.

The smell of pine needles, nutmeg, and cinnamon sprinkled everywhere reminds me of the joyous feeling I had when I first discovered spells and magick as a teenager.

And there’s no better time than the holidays for practicing your craft! You get to use your skills to help others, and make them happy. It’s truly an amazing feeling!

2) Reunions & Friendships

It seems like everyone spends the holidays getting together with their friends and family. When these relationships have been strained, or broken off entirely, the holidays provide a perfect opportunity to reconnect. You can spend time with those who mean the most to you.

For witches, this family time is important whether we have a found family or meet with our biological family. Social time with those we love helps to fill our souls, and is essential for many witches to feel whole and centered.

Holidays bring about community. Family members and friends should come together and share meals, gifts, and stories. They support each other when times aren’t going well. And they make sure to laugh along with you when things go right.

Holidays are perfect opportunities to practice new spells, learn new techniques, and connect with likeminded individuals.

3) Family Traditions

Holiday traditions are what helped shape our family unit. Every year, my mom would cook an elaborate meal on Christmas Day, and every day after that, we’d eat leftovers from her feast.

You can start and maintain witchy Yule traditions such as making a new spell each night before bedtime, or lighting candles at midnight on the eve of Yule. Cooking wassail or baking cookies are secular traditions that can be carried through the generations to come.

4) Gifts

Who doesn’t love a good gift? A gift given by a witch is often blessed and protected, acting as a charm of blessing as much as a practical item.

I love giving gifts because they allow me to share my talents with someone else. My favorite thing to do is create handmade items for people. I enjoy creating things that will last forever, and I’m always amazed at how well-received my creations are.

I have made many things for friends and loved ones throughout my life. Most recently, I’ve been making handcrafted jewelry and accessories using semi-precious stones and metals. I am inspired by the beauty of the natural world, and try to incorporate elements of nature into my designs. I believe that each piece should reflect the unique personality of the recipient. For example, each necklace would have a different theme based around the person’s interests, likes, dislikes, etc.

As I work on these projects, I get to weave spells of blessing and success into the item.

5) Spirits

I believe that spirits visit us during the holidays. Holidays are liminal times when spirits can appear more easily. They show themselves in unexpected places and ways, reminding us to slow down and enjoy life.

At Samhain and Yule, I make a point to contact my ancestors and my spirit guides to thank them for helping me. This allows me to connect with my past, present, and future selves.

I also try to keep an open mind to any signs that might occur around me. If I see a sign, I’ll write it down so that I remember it later.

I’m not sure if it’s possible to say what kind of holiday spirit visits me every year. Sometimes I feel like someone’s watching over me. Other times, I get the feeling that something important is about to happen. It could be anything from meeting new people to getting a promotion.

The way spiritual messages present to us is different with every encounter. Keep an open mind during the holidays, because you may be missing signs from the spirits otherwise.
