This prayer is most effective during the night. Hecate is very much a goddess of the night. She has many associations with the moon. As such, you should either invoke her on full moons or when it is dark.

She also knows what fates are possible, and in my opinion she guides each person to their fate if they don’t stray from it along the way.

As the goddess of doorways, she knows how to open them. She also knows what will come out of them. This could be considered the future, the fate that is to be, and she guides people through their lives and helps them to choose the best doors to go through.

Hecate inspires in the way that she looks over others’ shoulders as they journey towards fate. She might not guide them directly along the way, but she does advise them when they ask for her help.

While she may not be like The Fates or other deities that deal with fate, like Fortuna, she still has a vested interest in it. She holds the keys to all doors, and yet she allows us the free will to choose which ones we go through… even to our doom.
