Prayer To Hecate For Guidance And Your Fate

If you feel as if you have strayed from the path of your fate, use this prayer to Hecate to guide you back to it. As the goddess of doorways and crossroads, she knows better than most which path you should take. Her name is often invoked at times of the year that are traditionally considered to be liminal times.

This prayer is most effective during the night. Hecate is very much a goddess of the night. She has many associations with the moon. As such, you should either invoke her on full moons or when it is dark.

First I will share with you this prayer. It’s one I wrote for myself, for my own use, but I realized after writing it that others might need it.

Remember, though, that Hecate prefers that you write your own prayers for her. Take the time to at least add to this one, or change it a bit.

Oh Hecate,
goddess of all paths
seer of all ways
guide me through the shadows
whisper to me their meanings
and show me to the dots of light
where I might thrive
Hecate,
goddess of all things
lovely, sinister, and strange
tell me where to place my feet
when I am about to dive over a cliff
if there is a bandit along my path
and who should join me on my journeys
Great goddess Hecate,
who knows all fates but rarely tells their secrets
take my hand and lead me to do great things
even if those great things feel small
teach me your patient ways
so that I might guide others
and be more like you

Is Hecate A Goddess Of Fate?

Hecate isn’t traditionally a goddess of fate, but I think her association with walking the path of fate is clear. She is the goddess of boundaries, and when those boundaries are crossed, it changes people’s fates.

She also knows what fates are possible, and in my opinion she guides each person to their fate if they don’t stray from it along the way.

As the goddess of doorways, she knows how to open them. She also knows what will come out of them. This could be considered the future, the fate that is to be, and she guides people through their lives and helps them to choose the best doors to go through.

Hecate inspires in the way that she looks over others’ shoulders as they journey towards fate. She might not guide them directly along the way, but she does advise them when they ask for her help.

While she may not be like The Fates or other deities that deal with fate, like Fortuna, she still has a vested interest in it. She holds the keys to all doors, and yet she allows us the free will to choose which ones we go through… even to our doom.

Walking With Hecate

If you wish to hear Hecate’s voice and feel her guiding hand, a night time stroll may be your best choice. In the silence of the night, under the light of the moon, you might feel a stronger than usual breeze. Or perhaps a fox will run past you, pointing in the direction of an old friend’s house.

This goddess works with subtlety and hints, not overt signs. Train your eye to be keen and your intuition to be sharp. You might be able to pick up on more than you thought possible.

If you find Hecate’s path appealing, or if you feel lost in your own life, remember this prayer and use it to reach out to her. You may feel as if you are walking on a path that was not meant for you. The moonlit night can be a time of revelation, and Hecate is just the goddess to help with that.
