Is improved fitness one of your new year goals? If you’re looking for an Instagram bod or just to heal your core after having a baby, fitness is an important part of our lives. This time of year brings out a desire to start something new for all of us, including embarking on new fitness goals.
But while we’re pumping iron or running for miles, the monotony of it all can sap us of our spiritual energy and power.
It doesn’t have to, though. Even something as simple as jogging at 4am can be imbued with magic. You can let those miles or the plates on your dumbbell make you not only physically more fit, but spiritually fitter as well.
Witchcraft shouldn’t just be something you turn to in emergencies. You should turn to witchcraft at every moment of your day, and allow it to guide you to a better you.
Here are my tips to having a more spiritually beneficial and magical workout.
Conjure The Fire Element
This is the element that will take a boring workout and turn it into one of those “hit 3 PRs and ran 10 miles” kind of workouts. The fire element is explosive, passionate, and competitive.
Summoning this element should be done with a delicate hand, however. Too much of the fire element in your workout can lead to injuries!
I add the fire element to my workouts by lighting a candle and then sprinkling some cinnamon to my shoes. The cinnamon can be replaced with any fire element herb.
Embody A Deity When Working Out
There are a number of deities that can aid us in working out and help us in building healthier, stronger bodies. Gods of the hunt will be a good choice here, as you need to be both strong and capable of endurance running to be an effective hunter.
Here are some deities to turn to:

- Nike (Greek)
- Ares (he is most helpful in lifting weights, for me) (Greek)
- Poseidon (for swimming) (Greek)
- Cernunnos (Celtic)
- Mixcoatl (Aztec)
- Arawn (Celtic)
- Neith (Egyptian)
- Pakhet (Egyptian)
- Wepwawet (Egyptian)
- Mielikki (Finnish)
- Nyyrikki (Finnish)
- Tapio (Finnish)
- Dali (Georgian)
- Artemis (Greek)
- Banka-Mundi (Hindu)
- Rundas (Hittite)
- Arnakuagsak (Inuit)
- Ullr (Norse)
- Diana (Roman)
Of course, do your due diligence before calling on these deities. Learn about the cultures from which they come, and respect them.
Sweat Out Some Spells
Much like sex magic, fitness lends itself well to empowering sigils.
How do you do this? You begin by creating a sigil for whatever purpose you have in mind. A sigil for weight loss or muscle gain is an obvious choice, but it doesn’t have to be a fitness related goal.
Anything you want to manifest in your life can be manifested by a sigil and some energy directed at that sigil.
Once the sigil has been created, place it where you can see it while you work out. This is going to be less weird if you have a private space for working out, but if you have the guts you can do this in the gym then go for it!
Once you have that sigil up somewhere that you can see it, just focus on that sigil while you work out. As you sweat, you will be empowering that sigil in the same way you would with sex magic.
Create A Health Altar
This health altar is best put wherever you work out, or at your front door so that you can spend a moment with it before you exercise. On this altar, you can place sigils, motivational quotes, fire-element herbs and crystals, and offerings to the deities you may be working with to improve your fitness.
Light a candle on this altar now and then, too, to bring even more of that passionate fire energy into its sacred space.
